The purpose of the thesis was to map whether firefighter supervisors feel that they can give enough feedback to firefighter chiefs, and whether firefighter chiefs feel that they receive enough feedback from firefighter supervisors. The purpose was also to find out how important the role of giving and receiving feedback is seen in the work community. The purpose of the thesis was also to find out how bottom-up feedback is listened to and how it is utilized by the Rescue Department. The goal of the thesis was to develop work community skills and to provide development suggestions for giving feedback and utilizing it. Länsi-Uusimaa Rescue Department will utilize the research results in developing the feedback. The theoretical framework of this thesis covers topics such as leadership, Länsi-Uusimaa Rescue Department, feedback in general and bottom-up feedback. The theoretical framework is based on related literature and Internet sources. The thesis was carried out using a qualitative research method and theme interviews. This research method was chosen because the goals of the thesis included the development of a feedback process and theme interviews create a deeper basis for development ideas. Nine people were selected for the interviews, three of them were firefighter chiefs and six firefighters. The research results showed that feedback from firefighters to firefighter chiefs is scarce. This feedback is mainly operative feedback related to work at the fire station or administrative matters. It can also be concluded from the results of the research that open interaction has a significant effect on the amount of feedback because firefighters who interacted more with their firefighter chiefs, provided more feedback. Increasing open interaction, feedback discussions with the firefighter’s own supervisor, group feedback discussions, and Rescue Department feedback surveys rose as areas of development from the research results....

The purpose of this thesis was to find out how ELIXIA is organized to motivates the current employees in their work. At the same time, the purpose was to find out that what different training courses provide for the employees and what ELIXIA is expects from their employees. The thesis was based on the Future Leader Program training organized by ELIXIA, which was also organized for the first time in Finland. The training enables the participants to work at ELIZIA assuming various responsibilities and managerial roles. The aim of this thesis was to get as many development objects and solutions as possible from the Future Leader Program training and other trainings for ELIXIA employees. The information obtained was intended to provide ELIXIA with useful data for the development of the company’s training and work environments. The aim was also to find out whether the employees find the trainings interesting and whether they motivate them to develop further in the workplace and internally in different tasks. The thesis framework was based on the thesis author’s own experience with ELIXIA and the information obtained through interviews with other employees and managers was used. The data also consisted if relevant literature and the information obtained will be reflected in the way the company operates. The results of the study showed that the employees are very interested in career-related trainings and that they are highly valued when the employer gives them the opportunity to develop their own skills. Career-related trainings are also very interesting, and the employees want a lot of support through their training in their job description. The questionnaire also found answers to what motivates the employees and what the employees think about career-related trainings at workplace....
